Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was born July 9 1956. He is an American actor as well as filmmaker and director. He is known for his comedic and dramatic role, he is one of the most loved and recognizable film stars worldwide and is widely regarded as an American iconic cultural figure. Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was a Concord, California native to Janet Marylyn Hanks, a hospital worker and Amos Mefford Hanks an itinerant cook. The family of his mother, initially known as "Fraga" and was 100% Portuguese and his father was of mostly English descent. Tom was born into what he calls"a "fractured" family. He did not have any acting experience in college. This is what helped him start his career. He attended a downtown audition for a show in the community theater. The director offered him a trip to Cleveland and that was where his acting career began.
